White goods are heavy, awkward and cannot go in general waste. The crew carry them out, down any stairs, and take them to a facility that recycles electricals properly.
The photos on this page are real: the MV crew regularly move American-style fridge freezers up and down West London staircases, which is the hardest version of this job. A standard fridge, washing machine or cooker is routine by comparison.
Appliances are disconnected at the plug and the isolator only; gas cookers must be capped off by a Gas Safe engineer before the crew arrive, and plumbed-in machines need the water turned off at the valve. From there the team wheel, strap and carry the appliance to the van and take it for electrical recycling rather than general waste.
It is often combined with delivery: the crew collect a new appliance from a store or a seller, carry it in, and take the old one away on the same trip. MV Movers have run deliveries for a Currys store, so the handling side is familiar.
Send a photo of the appliance and tell Dave which floor it is on and whether there is a lift.

Clearing and moving? One quote can cover the clearance, the move, packing and storage. Tick what applies on the form and Dave plans it as one job.
Furniture and fittings in good condition are set aside for family, resale or donation before anything is loaded for disposal.
2
Recycle what can be
Metal, timber, cardboard and electricals are kept apart from general waste and taken to facilities that recycle them.
3
Licensed facilities only
What is left goes to licensed waste and recycling facilities. Nothing is left on a verge, and the crew will say up front if an item needs a specialist contractor.
“Had some large items to clear and dispose of including sofas white goods beds and mattresses, which is the second time I’ve used M&V recently for this type of job. Each time costs have been more competitive than actual waste clearance companies and would much rather deal with David and his team as they make things simple and professionally handle everything.”
★★★★★
Removal of all furniture from one flat to another
“Excellent work from the entire team, had booked a team of 2 and lucky enough to have 3 of the team turn up, all got on with the work and even offered to do extras to help out with the move. Team were great with both my partner and I and also even offered to sort our washing machine. Would recommend to anyone in need of movers.”
★★★★★
Excellent Large American fridge freezer delivery
“The whole team was very professional and courteous. My job was extremely technical and required dismantling/reconfiguring the fridge. They handled the fridge with care and left no damage. The job was completed in a timely manner and removed my old fridge. I would highly recommend their services.”
FAQ
Appliance & White Goods Disposal: your questions
Can you take a fridge freezer from an upstairs flat?
Yes. Stairs are part of the quote and the crew bring the straps and trolleys for it, including for American-style fridge freezers.
Do I need to disconnect it first?
Electrical appliances can be unplugged by the crew. Gas cookers must be disconnected and capped by a Gas Safe engineer beforehand, and plumbed machines need the water isolated.
Where do the appliances go?
To facilities that recycle electrical equipment, which is what the law requires for fridges and other electricals.
Can you deliver my new appliance too?
Yes. Collection from a store or seller and delivery with removal of the old unit is one combined job.
Photos first, price second.
Send a few photos of what needs clearing with the floor and the date. Dave replies with a fixed price, usually the same day.
