Flat Clearance

Flats are the clearance the MV crew do most: a tenancy ending, a studio being sold, a relative’s flat that has to be emptied by the end of the month. Stairs, lifts and porters are planned for before the van sets off.

MV Movers crew loading a van outside a West London apartment block during a flat clearance

A flat clearance is mostly about access. Third floor with no lift, a porter who wants the lift padded, a loading bay with a twenty-minute limit, a controlled parking zone outside: all of it changes how many crew are needed and in what order things come out. Dave asks about it up front so the day runs to plan.

The crew clear everything you ask them to, from a few bulky items to the full contents, including fitted wardrobes and kitchen appliances where required. Anything you want kept is set aside or moved to a new address in the same visit. Communal areas are protected and left clean, which is the thing block managers and neighbours notice.

A Checkatrade customer in NW1 who booked two flat clearances wrote that the team were "quick, efficient, polite and good natured" and "took everything in their stride". Another in Brentford used the crew twice in a few months to clear sofas, white goods, beds and mattresses.

For a quote, send photos of each room and tell Dave the floor, whether there is a lift, and when the keys have to go back.

Where we do it

How disposal works

Sorted, not just taken away

1

Reuse first

Furniture and fittings in good condition are set aside for family, resale or donation before anything is loaded for disposal.

2

Recycle what can be

Metal, timber, cardboard and electricals are kept apart from general waste and taken to facilities that recycle them.

3

Licensed facilities only

What is left goes to licensed waste and recycling facilities. Nothing is left on a verge, and the crew will say up front if an item needs a specialist contractor.

“Hired for a partial flat clearence/junk removal job. The team from MV came on time and worked hard on a hot day to package and remove a lot of items (including a bed, wardrobe and 2 armchairs) in a difficult situation. The guys were friendly and professional and got everything done in good time. I would recommend.”

“Great service, as usual. This time a flat clearance and transfer of a couple of items of furniture. I will definitely book again for my move from London to Cornwall in a few months. David and his team are efficient and personable and get the job done! Highly recommended.”

“MV Movers moved me out of my flat into storage when I was in a fix, and back out into a new place a few weeks later. Excellent service, great team, hard working, and good value. I will use them again.”

FAQ

Flat Clearance: your questions

How much does a flat clearance cost?

It depends on the volume, the floor and the access. Photos of each room plus the floor number and lift situation on WhatsApp are enough for Dave to give a clear price, usually the same day.

Can you clear a flat with no lift?

Yes. Stairs are quoted for in advance and the crew size is set to match, so there is no surprise on the day.

What if I want to keep some things?

Tell the crew what stays, or label it. Kept items can be moved to another address or into storage in the same visit.

Do you clear end-of-tenancy flats for landlords?

Yes, regularly. See the end-of-tenancy page for how that works with letting agents and deposit deadlines.

Photos first, price second.

Send a few photos of what needs clearing with the floor and the date. Dave replies with a fixed price, usually the same day.
